Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp. Celebrates 10 Years
MONTEBELLO, CA - June, 2007 - Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp.
marks a milestone, by celebrating 10 years, since being incorporated in 1997. Founder and president, Andrew H. Cabral knew as a child that he would one day have his own business. Cabral started in the roofing industry working for his older brother, running the day-to-day operations, including production and accounting. This gave him a solid foundation when he ventured out on his own.
Another solid business decision for Cabral was surrounding himself with family. Key positions in the company are staffed by siblings, from production, which Cabral handles personally, to sales and marketing lead by vice president, Desi Cabral and administration managed by controller, Eloina Aguilar. The company also has a distinct advantage in the field with additional family members in superintendent, foreman and project management positions. Working with family may not work for every company, but at Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp., this tight knit family watches over the company and each other, enabling the company to focus on giving the customer the best value for its dollar spent.
Cabral credits a number of factors for the success the company has enjoyed. Never as interested in being the largest roofing company, focus was on quality, enabling the company’s growth rate to be deliberate and steady. Growth has been measured in size, as well as financial terms. Starting out in a small location, Cabral soon moved to its current location in Montebello and bought the property that it’s supplier, Structural Materials once owned.
With a larger yard came a larger employee base. Offering competitive salaries and a full benefit package keeps attrition rates low and reflects the company philosophy of cultivating current employees, rather than having to constantly mine new ones. Many of the employees have been with the company since its inception.
In the construction trade, another measure of success has to be safety. Andrew is very proud of the company’s safety record. Currently over 250,000 hours without a loss-time accident says a lot about the safety priorities and experience of the staff.
With over $17 million in sales in 2006, Cabral is quick to credit his entire organization for the company’s success. Customer focus helps Cabral Roofing stay at the top of its game. “We’re not trying to be everything to everyone,” says Desi Cabral, who oversees marketing of the company. Early on a decision was made to focus on commercial/industrial roofing, including single-ply, modified, cold-applied, built-up and steep slope. “We know who we are and who we best serve and we target companies that fit that bill. We work with some of the best manufacturers in the industry and some of the most talented consultants. We also benefit from customer loyalty with repeat business, and a reputation in the industry for being quick, clean and thorough.” Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp. is proud of its list of satisfied clients, which include many private corporations, as well as federal and local government agencies.
When asked what he is hoping for in the next 10 years, Andrew’s reply is, “more of the same!”. “When I look at what we accomplished last year, I am proud, of our company, our reputation and our success. To be able to provide for my family, give others the same opportunity and to make a living at something that I enjoy, what more could someone ask for?”
For the sixth year in a row, Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp. received Notice of Award for Ventura Naval Bases, Port Hueneme and Point Mugu. The contract is valued up to $3.5 million and will include roof repair and replacement for various buildings at the two facilities, including San Nicolas Island and Santa Cruz Island.
“Ventura is becoming my second home,” says superintendent Tereso Cabral. “Not that I mind. We’ve done enough work for the Navy that we know what they expect and can anticipate the best plan of attack for each project.”
Working for the Federal government is never an easy prospect, with the accountability that is required. Cabral Roofing & Waterproofing Corp. has been doing work for the Federal government and specifically the Navy for more than seven years. The company’s ability to process all of the production reports, meet all safety standards, and be competitive in pricing and turn around time are what consistently give it an edge.
“I look forward to working with the Navy” vice president Desi Cabral says. “It’s a lot of work, but those are the details that keep us sharp and on top of our game. We have a great team, everyone knows their job and pulls together to make it happen.”
The project is expected to be completed during the summer of 2007.
